Neuron ESB is a must for connectivity and is the center for any SOA initiative. Combined with the Microsoft application platform, Neuron ESB provides the fabric to bring it all together.

  • Line of business application adapters
  • WS-* based standards
  • First and second-generation web service support
  • Microsoft Strategic Server support (Windows SharePoint® Services, SQL Server™, Microsoft Dynamics™, Microsoft BizTalk Server™)
  • Mainframe and midrange systems (though .NET managed code)
  • XML and web services protocols (e.g. SOAP)
  • Devices (RFID)

Connecting the Enterprise

An Enterprise Service Bus needs to provide seamless interoperability between web services as well as existing applications in real time. Many businesses who are adopting SOA have made significant investments over the years in a variety of technologies, which together provide a broad array of capabilities throughout their organizations.

Neuron ESB provides the infrastructure and tools that allow you to unleash these capabilities within your SOA environment, effortlessly weaving them together regardless of technology, transport or application. You get more out of the investments that you have already made while minimizing the cost of incorporating new services with existing capabilities. This is possible because Neuron ESB delivers the "Next Generation" of architecture built on top of the Microsoft .NET Framework and Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) years earlier than any other vendor!

For example, you can easily define business conversations between two or more clients. Within Neuron ESB these conversations are called "Topics" in which clients can be people, resources, application or services existing within your organization or across companies. A "virtual circuit" is created between all clients with publishing or subscription rights to the Topic. For any given scenario, you are provided the flexibility to choose the underlying communication technology (Neuron ESB Messaging Channel) that powers a Topic. Neuron ESB ships with several channels, each of which includes configurable reliability and quality of service (QoS) levels.

  • TCP/IP - Fast, volatile communication with good reliability. A good compromise between Peer-to-Peer and MSMQ in terms of speed and reliability.
  • Peer Channel – Fast, volatile, server-less communication with high parallelism. Ideal for real-time messaging and multicasting to large numbers of recipients. For guaranteed in-order message delivery, enable Neuron ESB's software reliability protocol.
  • Microsoft Message Queuing – Durable, transacted communication. The best choice for maximum reliability, or when all parties cannot be online simultaneously. Also supports workload sharing among multiple instances of programs.
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 – Combines the capabilities of Neuron ESB and BizTalk Server to provide a communication and integration backbone of unparalleled capabilities. Allows you to take advantage of BizTalk's facilities for message processing, process orchestration, and business activity monitoring.

For channels that don't already exist, you can use the Neuron ESB SDK to quickly create custom channels, reusing existing messaging technologies like JMS, or Tibco.

Using the Neuron ESB pipeline designer, you can add additional processing and mediation requirements for clients at both the publisher and subscriber level. Whether these requirements are workflow, business rules, transformation or security specific, Neuron ESB provides an intuitive user interface for configuration. Unlike most ESB solutions, pipelines can be executed at either the client or ESB server, allowing you to more effectively redistribute your processing power across their environment.

Neuron ESB delivers these capabilities through its integrated use of many Microsoft based technologies. However, organizations are not required to use all of these technologies: Neuron ESB will leverage any combination that you have made investments in. Together they ensure that the underlying infrastructure is backed by the largest software company in the industry.

  • .NET 3.0/3.5
  • Windows Communication Foundation
  • Windows Workflow Foundation
  • MSMQ
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2
  • Microsoft SQL Server

Using Neuron ESB, you also have the flexibility of publishing real time messages and events to the ESB or, alternatively subscribe to them, by either using the Neuron ESB Client API or any supported connectivity option. A wide array of technology and application options are supported out of the box, through either the Neuron ESB .NET Adapter SDK, the Microsoft WCF LOB Adapter SDK, Microsoft WCF Service Bindings or through the Neuron ESB Client API.

You can choose to extend your connectivity options with Neuron ESB – just simply "Connect".
